Die-cutting process combines option of large format with an unrivalled precision

Blumer claims its latest fully automatic system, combining counter-pressure die-cutting with large label formats up to 50 microns in thickness, is the only one of its kind worldwide.

The Swiss company’s claim of uniqueness relates to the AG-4220 machine’s ability to process label formats up to 239mm x 420mm through the use of counter-pressure. It adds that the machine offers maximum precision, reliability and the “consistently high performance” for which Blumer equipment is renowned.

All steps in the process such as buffering, cutting, die-cutting with counter-pressure, separating and banding operate fully automatically. The system is suitable for medium production volumes as well as for small batch sizes.

Earlier this year, the company launched its Atlas -1110 DS (Double Stack) machine, with two strip or stacks being processed simultaneously for the first time. This made it the fastest and most productive punching machine globally, Blumer claims.

In the UK, the manufacturer’s systems are available exclusively through Friedheim. The machine is available for testing in Blumer’s Swiss showroom or can be seen on stand E-30-5 at the drupa show (28 May – 7 June, Düsseldorf, Germany).

Based in Ossingen, Switzerland, Blumer was established in 1897, and presented its first punch die-cutter in 1977.
